Crackle Polish is a quick and easy way to liven up a simple manicure. After a while though, the same design can get boring. Here a few tips and tricks on how to be creative with your crackle polish!
- Use a thin coat to create small, thin, close cracks.
- Use a thick coat to create big, thick, wide cracks.
- Layer two crackles. Allow the first color to completely dry. Then apply a topcoat and let that dry completely. The top coat gives the second layer a smooth surface to crack on. Finally, apply the second color or crackle and let it dry.
- Try brushing it on in different directions. This will result in the cracks running in different directions. Here, I brushed it on horizontally as opposed to vertically.
Have fun and be creative! If you have any other tips or tricks of your own, let me know! I’d love to see what you all come up with!
[P.S.- I apologize for the messy work. It wasn’t staying on long, so I wasn’t trying to be perfect.]
Today I received my order of China Glaze’s Halloween 2011 collection, Haunting. I ordered all but two: It’s Alive and Black Mesh. It’s Alive is a green base with tons of gold glitters. It didn’t seem like the type of color I’d wear much, so I looked past it. I didn’t get Black Mesh because it is the Crackle from their permanent line, and I already have a black crackle. I may get them eventually for the sake of collecting, but not today. On with what I got…
Haunting: Black base with fine silver glitter (My favorite)
Crimson: Deep purple plum jelly
Ghoulish Glow: Glow in the dark translucent
After Dark: Deep gray, almost black
In the glowing picture, I have 4 coats of GG on alone. The more coats you add, the brighter the glow will be. To activate it, you hold it up to a light… much like those glow in the dark star stickers most of us had as a kid ;)
All of these are great fall/winter colors. The main reason why I purchased these was for Ghoulish Glow. It is a re-edition that I couldn’t find until this collection was released! I needed to snag it before it sold out.
Hope you all enjoyed this … review/swatch/haul? It’s something from the norm for my blog. Let me know what you think. Take care!
